Pagliai's Pizza, Grinnell, Iowa, is FANTASTIC! I went on Saturday, 10-4-25, they were PACKED with more people waiting. Had to wait about 25 minutes, but got a seat, ordered & pizza didn't take long. Totally worth it! GREAT service, also!
Extremely clean restaurant, fast service, homemade pies- sausage and beef are fresh, in house. No mystery meat. The sauce is a thing of dreams- rich tomato. Get extra so you can have a cold slice the next day (the best)!
Fantastic service! Pizza was crispy and fresh. My order was delayed and I was compensated for it. Olivia was my server. She absolutely knocked it out of the park. I will be back. Amazing service and great food!
This place is the best!!! The Meatballs are a must do appetizer. The meatballs are cooked perfectly and the sauce, well it gets 10 stars! The pizzas and Lasagna are also super great! The house special Champaign cake is a nice touch to finish off your meal. This place will not disappoint you if you love Italian food. Hands done one of the best kept secrets in eastern Iowa.
WOW! Delicious, fresh, handmade food, excellent service, inviting ambiance, & affordable prices! Some of the best thin crust pizza I’ve had & it was served piping hot! The house made sausage is amazing. The pag hero was piled so high, it was hard to take a bite out of it. The bruschetta was yummy. Ranch dressing was also tasty. Loved this place & will return next time we’re in town!

Let me tell you about The House Special—a pizza so loaded with meat that it’s practically a structural engineering marvel. Seriously, they must be losing money on every pie. You take one bite, and you can almost hear the other pizza joints in town weeping. This pizza is so good that if Trump catches wind, he’ll build a wall around it and make Domino’s pay for it. Shout-out to Jayden, our server, who made the meal even better by spending extra time chatting with us and making us feel like family. And props to Joey, the owner, who shared the fascinating history behind their family-run restaurant empire. It’s clear that Pagliai’s isn’t just serving pizza—they’re serving tradition, passion, and an experience you won’t forget. If you haven’t been yet, go. You’ll leave with a full stomach, a smile, and a sense that you just tasted greatness. Also, bring a big appetite… and maybe a forklift for all that meat. I was just driving on the interstate when I wanted a great local pizza, and I found it here. It's a great-looking and very inviting place, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. I had a 12-inch pepperoni pizza and asked that half be extra cheese; they had no problem. I put this as a favorite place so the next time I drive that way it will be a stop for me every time. Thanks for amazing experience.
Having eaten at Pagliai's in Iowa City several times, until recently, I did not know there was a Pagliai's in Grinnell. So we made sure to make a stop for Pagliai's in Grinnell when traveling on I-80. We were not disappointed. We were graciously greeted at the door and got that type of attention the whole time we were there. As an observer of others, I noticed that all customers were being served with that same attention to detail that our party was being attended to. Our pizza and cheese bread were very good and were just what we needed to finish a busy Saturday. The building is located in a wonderful old downtown area. We arrived later on a Saturday evening, so we will go back to explore the downtown area and of course make a return trip this Pagliai's. Great service, great atmosphere, and great food!!
I got in late on Saint Paddy's Day and had my heart set on a Reuben PIzza for my Corned Beef and Cabbage requirement for today. Then just as I walked in I overhear the Owner say.. " That's the last Reuben..we're outta Beef" Achhhhhhh Nooooooo please say it ain't so !!! LOL After some quick negotiations, he kindly offered to scrape enough Beef up, to make a small child's pizza. I added that to my normal Large Sausage Pizza order land everything was right with the world again !! And naturally both tasted fantastic and I couldn't have been happier !! You don't have to wonder why they've been in operations, in Grinnell, since 1957 !! Love 'Um !! ❤️
